Otto & Astrid are Die Roten Punkte (The Red Dots). They are Berlin’s Prince and Princess art rock and Europop and are at the pinnacle of their careers with a string of awards notched into their studded belts, this counter-culture rock duo have truly arrived. They are rock incarnate.

Eurosmash! reaches down to the bottom of the Eurotrash barrel and pulls out a batch of songs that is unashamedly slick pop with ‘lost in translation’ lyrics. It’s the best (and worst) of Eurovision with a tragically hilarious unfolding narrative.

Otto feels that if this new ‘Pop’ EUROSMASH! album tops the charts he can connect with more people around the world and he’ll be asked to do more political work like Bono and Chris Martin from Coldplay. Astrid is frustrated with their slow stardom and believes that the new CD will finally give her the fame she deserves including her own reality TV show, fashion label and the publishing of her international sausage cook book “Wurst Food In The World”.

Eurosmash! is Otto & Astrid’s latest fourth full-length show (and album) that comes after years of genuine acclaim, touring worldwide. They have sold out venues in New York, Edinburgh, Montreal, Costa Mesa, Albuquerque and Dublin playing venues such as Joe’s Pub NY, The Roxy LA, The Kesselhaus in Berlin, The Cultch in Vancouver and were the main support for Amanda Palmer on her recent West Coast USA, Australian and European Tours.

Otto and Astrid Rot present a choice between dancing and laughing, as these squabbling siblings kick out some smashing jams. A lipstick-smeared, tantrum-loving, sonic collision between B52s, and early Ramones, Otto & Astrid are truly unique. Their songs are ridiculously infectious and their live show is one of the most irreverent and hilarious gigs you a likely to see.

Otto is a wide-eyed Straight Edge Emo boy and older sister Astrid is a girl that finds it hard to stay out of rehab. Die Roten Punkte’s last album ‘KUNST ROCK (ART ROCK) was an important time of limitless personal expression but has still stayed relatively underground. It has made them cool but not popular and increasingly they are spent lot more money than they earn. The band has decided to shift their focus to something more mainstream.

Orphaned as kids when Astrid was 12 and Otto was 9, the brother and sister duo found shelter in a Berlin squat and never rockin’ well looked back. Creating their own individual style as their band Die Roten Punkte gig is a wild, rock ‘n’ roll cabaret ride, full of hilarious, truly catchy and award winning pop songs, constantly interrupted by the squabbling of the dysfunctional siblings.

Astrid is a notorious party girl regularly ending up in the European tabloids and gossip columns. Otto sings songs about politics and fruit and has become the new wave pin up boy for the Straight Edge movement.
